Custom Work for Phoenix Small Businesses

Beyond hosting and managed services, I solve technical problems for small businesses.
Automated SMS systems, custom integrations, Google Sheets workflows: whatever your business actually needs.

I'm not just a web developer. I'm a problem solver who understands technology and turns it into something that saves you time and money.

Every Business Has Unique Tech Needs

Your business doesn't fit in a box, and neither should your technology. Whether you need to automate repetitive tasks, connect disparate systems, or build something entirely custom, I've got you covered. I've helped clients replace expensive per-message SMS providers with flat-rate automation, automate hours of manual work, and build tools that major software companies couldn't provide.

Why do you need custom work?

You know what you need to accomplish, but you don't know how to make the technology work. Maybe you need different systems to talk to each other. Maybe you're doing something manually that should be automated. Or maybe you have a business process that off-the-shelf software just can't handle.
Here's what happens without custom work: You spend thousands on software that doesn't quite fit. You hire developers who don't understand your business. You waste hours every week on tasks that could run automatically. Or worse, you give up on solving the problem and just accept the inefficiency.
With the right tech partner, everything changes. I build custom tools that fit your exact needs. I automate the tedious stuff. I integrate your systems so they actually work together. And I do it all in plain language, without the jargon or the massive price tags.
You run your business. I handle the tech challenges that are slowing it down or costing you money.

Real work I've built for real businesses

Every business has unique challenges. Here are some of the custom projects I've created:

Automated SMS Systems

Built custom SMS automation for clients that replaced per-message pricing with a flat-rate setup. Appointment reminders, notifications, two-way messaging, and bulk campaigns, all integrated with existing business systems.

Google Sheets Automation

Custom Google Sheets systems with advanced formulas, scripts, and integrations. Automated reporting dashboards, inventory tracking systems, customer databases, and workflow tools that connect to other platforms.

System Integrations

Connected CRMs with email platforms, payment processors with accounting software, scheduling tools with notification systems. Made disparate tools work together seamlessly so data flows automatically where it needs to go.

Custom Automations

Built workflows that eliminate manual tasks—automatic lead routing, scheduled reports, data syncing, follow-up sequences, invoice generation, and more. Hours of work reduced to seconds.

API Integrations

Connected third-party services via APIs—payment gateways, shipping providers, marketing tools, communication platforms, and custom web services. Made your tools talk to each other.

Scheduling & Booking Systems

Custom appointment booking, resource scheduling, calendar integrations, automated reminders, and availability management. Tailored to fit your specific business model.

Document Generation

Automated invoice creation, contract generation, PDF reports, email templates with dynamic content, and document workflows. Stop creating the same documents manually.

E-commerce Customizations

Custom checkout flows, unique product configurations, shipping calculators, inventory sync between platforms, and specialized pricing logic. Make your store work exactly how you need.

Customer Portal Development

Built secure login areas where customers can access their data, download documents, submit requests, track orders, and manage their accounts. Self-service that reduces support load.

Email Automation Beyond Marketing

Transactional emails, notification systems, automated reporting, internal alerts, escalation workflows, and conditional messaging based on business logic.

Authentication & Access Control

Custom login systems, role-based permissions, SSO integrations, secure API access, and multi-factor authentication. Control who can access what in your systems.

Mobile & Native Apps

Native iOS and Android apps, cross-platform builds (React Native, Flutter), Progressive Web Apps, and responsive mobile web apps. I handle app-store publishing, push notifications, native integrations, and backend work when it's the right fit. Contact me to discuss feasibility and pricing.

Let's be honest about what I don't do

I'm not a massive enterprise consultancy with specialized departments. I'm a small, focused shop that's good at practical work for small businesses. Here's what I typically don't handle:

Enterprise-scale infrastructure: If you need a team to manage thousands of servers or build systems for millions of users, you probably need a larger firm.
Networking & network engineering: I don't provide dedicated on-premises network engineering services. Complex WAN/LAN design, firewall architecture, and managed hardware networking for enterprise networks are outside my scope.
Data science & machine learning: I can integrate AI services, but I'm not building custom ML models or doing advanced statistical analysis.
Hardware/embedded systems: I'm a software person, not a hardware engineer.
Game development: Not my area of expertise.

If you need something in these areas, I'm happy to refer you to specialists I trust. I'd rather be honest about my strengths than overpromise and underdeliver.

Need ongoing AI automation, not just a one-time build?

My Managed AI service handles the tools, API keys, workflows, and vendor management as a monthly retainer. Start with a one-week AI Audit to map your highest-ROI opportunities first.

How custom work works

No complex contracts, no corporate bureaucracy. Just straightforward problem-solving.

1. Tell Me Your Challenge

Reach out and describe what you're trying to accomplish or what problem you're facing. Don't worry about technical details, just explain the business need.

2. I Propose a Plan

I'll discuss options, explain what's possible, outline costs, and recommend the most practical approach. You'll understand exactly what I'm building and why.

3. I Build It

I handle all the technical implementation so you don't have to. You stay informed throughout the process, provide feedback, and approve major decisions.

4. I Support It

Once it's live, I make sure it works smoothly. Questions? Issues? Need tweaks? I'm here. Many clients add consulting work to their managed Care plans for ongoing support.

Technologies I work with

I'm platform-agnostic and work with whatever makes sense for your needs. Here are some of the tools and platforms I commonly integrate:

Don't see what you need? I work with APIs and can integrate with almost any modern platform. Just ask.

How pricing works

Custom work is $120/hour with a $2,500 minimum and a 50% deposit before work is scheduled. You get a written scope and a stated price before I start.

Ongoing Support

Retainer or managed Care: Many clients add consulting to their managed Care plans for ongoing support, monthly improvements, and priority access.

Hosting

Hosting & infrastructure: Many custom builds need hosting, servers, or managed backend services. I'll review requirements, pricing, and maintenance needs with you before any work begins. Ask about hosting.

You'll always get a clear estimate before I start work. No surprise bills, no unexpected scope creep charges. You'll know what you're paying and what you're getting.

What my clients say

Let's talk about your tech challenge

Have a problem you can't solve? A process you need to automate? A system you need to integrate? Tell me what you're trying to accomplish. I'll let you know if I can help, and if I can't, I'll point you toward someone who can.

No sales pitch, no obligation. Just an honest conversation about what's possible and what it would take to make it happen.

Custom Work FAQs

How do I know if I need custom development or if there's already a solution?

That's exactly what I help figure out. Often there's an existing tool that solves 80% of your problem with minimal customization. Other times, building something custom is actually cheaper and better than cobbling together multiple SaaS subscriptions. I'll be honest about what makes sense. If the answer is that you don't need custom work, I'll tell you that for free.

Do you sign NDAs?

Absolutely. I'm happy to sign reasonable non-disclosure agreements before discussing sensitive business processes or proprietary systems.

How long does a typical project take?

Small projects (simple integrations, basic scripts) often take 1-2 weeks. Medium projects (custom features, workflow automation) typically take 2-6 weeks. Large projects (comprehensive builds, complex applications) can take 2-4 months. I'll give you realistic timelines upfront.

What if I don't know exactly what I need?

That's totally normal. Most clients come to me with a business problem, not a technical specification. I'll talk through what you're trying to accomplish, ask the right questions, and propose a practical plan. You don't need to be technical: I translate business needs into working software.

Can you maintain and update what you build?

Yes. Many clients add what I've built to my managed Care plans for ongoing support, updates, and improvements. Or I can train your team to maintain it themselves if you prefer.

Do I own what you build for me?

Yes. Any custom code or systems I build specifically for you belong to you. You own it, you control it, and you can take it elsewhere if you leave. See the full terms on my ownership page.

What if the project needs to change midway through?

Requirements change, I get it. I work iteratively and stay flexible. If scope changes significantly, I'll discuss the impact on timeline and cost. No surprise bills, but I'll make sure expectations stay aligned.

Can you work with my existing developer/agency?

Sure. I'm happy to collaborate with your existing technical team, consult on specific challenges, or handle particular aspects of a larger project. I'm not territorial, I just want to help solve problems.

What happens if something breaks after you build it?

I stand behind my work. If something I built has a bug or issue, I'll fix it. For ongoing support and monitoring, I recommend adding it to a managed Care plan. But I'm not going to abandon you if something goes wrong.

Can you help with an idea I have for a startup/product?

Maybe. I occasionally work on early-stage product development, but I'm selective. My sweet spot is practical business work, not speculative ventures. That said, if you have a clear business model and realistic expectations, let's talk.
